The Judiciary of the Islamic Republic announced extensive management changes following Majtaba Khamenei’s remarks. Among the people appointed to new positions, the names of several serious human rights violators and judicial and security officials with a track record of crackdowns and issuing harsh sentences against citizens are seen.

Mizan News Agency, the judiciary’s media outlet, wrote on Wednesday, 28 Mordad, that Gholam-Hossein Mohseni Ejei, the head of the judiciary, has issued the rulings for new managers of various sections of this institution.

Hamzeh Khalili, the first deputy of the judiciary, said that changes have been made in the headquarters of this institution and in provincial justice departments, and that much of it was not merely a reshuffling of managers.

According to him, the chief justices of 14 provinces will also be changed.

Among these appointments, there are a number of officials who, in their previous posts, have had a role in suppressing protesters, issuing and carrying out death and imprisonment sentences, dealing with prisoners, or restricting civil and political freedoms.
