🔶 Two suspects detained for alleged membership in ISIS in Saxony, Germany

The public prosecutor’s office in Dresden, Germany, announced that two Iraqi men were arrested in the cities of Dresden and Königstein on suspicion of membership in the terrorist group ISIS.

According to the public prosecutor’s office in Dresden, the two men were arrested on the basis of an arrest warrant issued by the Higher Regional Court of Dresden. One of the suspects is 33 years old and the other is 27.

The prosecutor’s office says the two men were members of various ISIS fighting groups in 2016 and 2017. Based on statements by German officials, they are accused of receiving money for these activities.

After the arrest of the two men, their homes were also searched.

The prosecutor’s office said that during these searches several mobile phones, a laptop, and identity documents were seized.

The investigating judge at the Higher Regional Court of Dresden ordered the arrest warrants for the two suspects to be carried out. German judicial authorities have not yet announced any further details about the case proceedings or the time of the trial.
