🔶 CENTCOM forms the first multinational offensive drone force
The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on August 13 that it has started the process of creating the first multi-national task force for the use of one-way offensive drones.
CENTCOM says the new unit is called “Task Force Falcon Strike,” and it is set to use drones and unmanned systems across multiple operational areas.
According to CENTCOM’s announcement, these systems will include unmanned equipment in the air, on the surface of the sea, and under the sea surface, and the new force will operate with the participation of U.S. military support forces and representatives of partner countries in the region.
The launch of Falcon Strike will take place nine months after the formation of “Task Force Scorpion Strike”; a unit that CENTCOM introduced as the first dedicated squadron of the U.S. Army for one-way offensive drones in the Middle East.
According to CENTCOM, Scorpion Strike reached several operational milestones in a short period of time.
Among these was the first launch of an aerial offensive drone from a U.S. Navy warship in December of last year.
