U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has released an image of U.S. Army soldiers loading a ground-based Phalanx weapon system (LPWS) in the Middle East. The system is a mobile, automated, and fast air defense system designed as the last layer of defense (close-in defense) to counter short-range air threats.
