Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, announced on the X social network that in talks with Mohammed bin Salman, Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince, he discussed cooperation in the field of drones and food security.

He wrote: “There are areas where Ukraine and Saudi Arabia can strengthen each other’s ability to protect people’s lives.”

According to Reuters, Zelensky also said in a video message that a team of Ukrainian officials is present in the region and that “there are now areas in which our relations are developing well.”

He added: “I am counting on reciprocal action in mutual support between the two countries.”

Reuters noted that Ukraine and Saudi Arabia signed an agreement on military cooperation in March, at the same time as Zelensky and Mohammed bin Salman’s meeting.

Over more than four and a half years of war with Russia, Ukraine has gained considerable experience and expertise in countering drones designed by the Islamic Republic. The country has also signed agreements with several countries in the Middle East, the Persian Gulf, and other regions of the world to develop drones.
