Update/ According to The Wall Street Journal, Israel reported to the Trump administration intelligence indicating the likelihood of a plot to target an Air Force One plane with shoulder-fired, man-portable surface-to-air missiles.

Following this report, U.S. security officials, after a NATO meeting in Ankara, transferred President Trump to a separate military aircraft using an airfield services truck, while Marco Rubio, the U.S. secretary of state, other senior officials, and reporters remained on Air Force One as part of a deception operation.

In the end, no missile was launched, and it is not yet clear how credible the reported threat was. This operation was the first time such a deception measure was carried out during Trump’s presidency.
