US Central Command (CENTCOM) says it has begun the process to create the first multi-national and multi-domain force of attack drones.

The unit, named the “Falcon Strike (Shaaleen Strike Force),” will use one-way attack drones; unmanned systems that operate in the air, on the sea surface, and underwater, and will be used by U.S. military support forces and partner forces from regional countries.

The launch of Falcon Strike takes place only nine months after CENTCOM established the first dedicated squadron of the U.S. Army for the use of one-way attack drones in the Middle East, titled the “Scorpion Strike Force,” and last month had also used these assets—especially unmanned attack vessels—to carry out attacks on military targets in Iranian ports.

CENTCOM has started consultations with regional partners and issued formal invitations to them.

With the official joining of regional countries, the “Falcon Strike Force” will gradually expand the capabilities of attack drones across the Middle East and organize them in the form of an integrated, multi-domain, multi-national deterrence force.
