🔸 War in Ukraine; Zelensky presented a new peace plan to the United States

Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, says he has presented proposals to the United States to end the war with Russia. He also accused Russia of planning to use next month’s parliamentary elections as a pretext to mobilize new forces.

The announcement of the delivery of new proposals for peace talks, which have largely reached a stalemate, comes as both sides have pointed to the imminent travel of American negotiators back to their countries.

In a late-night video message on Tuesday, August 11 (21 Mordad), Zelensky said: “We have provided our proposals to the American side.” According to him, the United States could help strengthen Ukraine’s defensive capabilities, especially in the field of air defense.

According to Zelensky, the United States can also pressure Russia to align the Kremlin’s plans with ending the war rather than continuing it. Zelensky did not provide details about these proposals.

Zelensky said Ukraine’s intelligence agency has evidence showing that Russia will use its “show elections” in September to mobilize new forces. His emphasis on “show elections” refers to recent restrictions placed on elections in Russia.

The Ukrainian president said: “They are preparing to mobilize forces in the autumn, immediately after the display of the parliamentary election.”

According to Zelensky, this is part of a plan to “create the impression that the people of Russia are supporting the war.” According to him, Russia intends to mobilize hundreds of thousands of additional people quickly before the end of this year, and next year to call up a similar number for service.
