When it comes to violence against women, neither are there laws to support victims, nor is any measure being considered by the patriarchal government of the Islamic Republic. “Vida Rabani,” a journalist and former political prisoner, has recently reported—on her Instagram page—by posting images of her injured body that she has been subjected to domestic violence by her husband.
The lack of laws that protect women who have experienced violence has long been one of the issues raised by activists of the women’s movement; IranWire citizen journalist reports on the experience of being subjected to violence and the absence of reporting-related laws by sending an audio file, and also mentions women who live on the outskirts of cities or in deprived areas, who do not have access to the outside world.
