🔻Yemen Army commander: Retaking Sanaa to stop Houthi attacks is vital

Tariq al-Saleh, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council of Yemen, recognized by the international community, and commander of the state’s armed forces, says that ensuring security in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandeb Strait depends on retaking the port of Hodeidah and Sanaa, the capital of the country, from the Iranian-backed Houthis.

In a video message he published on the social network X, al-Saleh said that the “real battle” against the Houthis has not yet begun.

He said that Yemen is considered the frontline of defense against Iran’s plans in the Red Sea and the Arabian Peninsula.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant General Samir al-Sabri, deputy minister of defense of Yemen, announced that the armed forces are ready to launch a large-scale offensive operation and are awaiting orders from the political command.

He added that the Yemeni government has completed all logistical measures and the necessary preparations to carry out a “fateful battle” against the Houthis.

In remarks published by the Taiz news network, al-Sabri said: “This legal government will determine the time and place of the battle.”
