A U.S. military court announced that the trial of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, one of the main suspects in the design of the September 11 attacks, will begin in June 2028.

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, before his arrest in March 2003 in Pakistan, was considered one of the senior commanders of Osama bin Laden, the slain leader of al-Qaeda.

He was held for three years in a secret facility of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency, the CIA, and then in 2006 was transferred to the U.S. military base at Guantanamo Bay.

According to the new ruling by the military judge, the start of the trial has been set for June 5, 2028.
