ABC News reported that a group of Democratic lawmakers in the United States asked Donald Trump to discuss, in a meeting on Wednesday with Xi Jinping, reported Chinese support for the Islamic Republic in the war.

In a letter citing a Wall Street Journal report, the lawmakers wrote that U.S. assessments indicate that providing satellite images by a Chinese company helped the Islamic Republic’s attack on a U.S. airbase in Jordan—an attack in which three American soldiers were killed.

They asked Trump to condemn China’s role in supporting Tehran. John Moolinar, a Republican representative, also called the reported cooperation between Beijing and the Islamic Republic’s army “equivalent to an act of war against the United States.”

The U.S. State Department had previously sanctioned four entities based in China for providing satellite images related to attacks by the Islamic Republic. China has rejected its state-linked companies’ support for Tehran’s military efforts.
