Financial Times reported that Gulf Arab countries are seeking to readjust relations with Tehran; the UAE wants a “new approach” and Qatar wants to create a “regional security framework” with Tehran.

Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the prime minister and foreign minister of Qatar, said Gulf countries should “act responsibly together” and maintain good relations with Iran.

Anwar Gargash, the diplomatic adviser to the UAE president, also stressed the need for Arab countries to hold talks with the Islamic Republic and said that negotiations between Tehran and Washington have not made progress. He added that discussions about the future of regional stability should also be held between Iran and Arab countries.

Financial Times also wrote that Saudi Arabia has been considering the idea of signing a non-aggression pact between Middle Eastern countries and Iran since the start of the war.

Sanam Vakil, a researcher at Chatham House, said that the Gulf states have realized that external security guarantees, like in the past, are no longer reliable, and that in the absence of a dependable backing, they must play a greater role in managing their own security.
