Abdolnaser Hemmati, governor of the Central Bank, said at a meeting with members of the Assembly of Iranian Entrepreneurs on Monday, the second of Shahrivar, that the United States’ “economic war” and the announced restrictions do not create new pressure “to bring the Islamic Republic to collapse.”

Hemmati said: “Today, the enemies want to begin a one-hundred-percent sanctions regime; we are not sitting idle either, and we have no problem supplying foreign currency.” He added that no further sanctions to be imposed against the country are left to be applied.

The Central Bank governor said he is optimistic about the future of the economy and believes that many of the current problems are solvable.

Regarding the record for the dollar exchange rate and the gap in exchange rates in the market, Hemmati said: “The widening of this gap is temporary, and we should not change the course of exchange-rate policies due to short-term fluctuations.”
