🔶 Air-attack warning in Riyadh; two explosions were heard

Saudi Arabia on Saturday, 28 Shahrivar (19 September), amid a worsening of fighting in Yemen, issued an air-attack warning in Riyadh for the first time and, shortly afterward, the sound of two explosions was heard in the capital.

Saudi Arabia’s civil defense had previously issued warnings of danger in cities including Jeddah, Taif, Yanbu, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, and AlUla.

These developments coincide with an increase in attacks by the Houthi forces, who are supported by the Islamic Republic, targeting objectives in Saudi Arabia and ships in the Red Sea, and with the group expanding its control along Yemen’s coasts near the strategic Bab al-Mandab Strait.

Following the intensification of fighting, the transit of cargo ships carrying Saudi goods through this strait has dropped sharply, and, according to the United Nations, a new wave of violence has displaced 120,000 people.
