🔶 Air Pollution Alert Issued in Tehran as Unhealthy Conditions for Sensitive Groups
According to the announcement from the Tehran Air Quality Control Company, the average air quality in the capital on the morning of Saturday, 31 Mordad (22 August), has been classified as unhealthy for sensitive groups, with an index of 101.
Based on data from this center, since the beginning of this year, Tehran has had 12 days of clean air, 120 days of acceptable air, 20 days of air unhealthy for sensitive groups, and 2 days of air unhealthy for all groups.
Experts say that the Iranian government does not have a comprehensive plan to tackle the air pollution crisis—especially in Tehran—and has only been limited to issuing warnings and providing statistics, with no noticeable change in the trend of reducing air pollution in the capital so far.
Experts also emphasize that without establishing a single institution with executive powers, preventing the circulation of worn-out vehicles, and securing sustainable funding to implement the plans, one cannot be hopeful about improving the situation.
