An American official said on Sunday, 8 Shahrivar that, in response to the attack by U.S. forces on the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ (IRGC) missile launchers on Larak Island, the Islamic Republic targeted a ballistic missile at a site where U.S. forces are stationed in Jordan, but nearly all the missiles were intercepted.

The IRGC took responsibility for the attack and claimed it targeted the “King Hussein” and “Al Azraq” bases, saying it inflicted “heavy damage.” In response, a U.S. source told Fox News that, as of now, no significant damage or casualties have been reported.

The missile attack was carried out hours after U.S. forces targeted two IRGC missile launchers on Larak Island. According to a U.S. official, the launchers were preparing to fire missiles carrying sea mines toward the Strait of Hormuz.

The attack on Larak was the first U.S. attack on the Iranian regime since late Tir. The administration of President Trump has emphasized that U.S. forces will continue operations to prevent mine-laying in the Strait of Hormuz and to protect freedom of navigation.
