🔸An environmental disaster on Oman’s coasts after a ship ran aground

On the coasts of Oman, an oil tanker has run aground and, as a result of the incident, has been damaged. Satellite images indicate that large quantities of oil have spilled into the sea, and the spill is increasing moment by moment. Various institutions have warned about the occurrence of an environmental disaster.

Greenpeace announced that the oil slick has now reached an area of more than 600 square kilometers. This figure is roughly twice the area of the entire city of Munich.

According to the report by this environmental organization, one of the sensitive ecological areas is facing a serious threat, and various species—including sea corals, sea turtles, birds, and species of marine animals—are at risk.

Estimates suggest that the tanker is carrying 110 tons of oil and is said to have been traveling from Russia to India.

The vessel, which is 270 meters long and named "Caroline Bezengi," is most likely part of Russia’s shadow fleet, which operates in order to circumvent the sanctions imposed on Moscow.
