🔸Signing of a joint defense agreement by Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan

News outlets, including Agence France-Presse, citing informed sources, reported that Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan will sign a joint defense agreement on Friday, August 7 (16 Mordad).

No further details have been published about the terms of this agreement, but the move comes as security tensions in the region have increased alongside the war between the United States and the Islamic Republic, and reports have been circulating about the possibility of attacks by the Houthis and Iraqi militias supported by Iran on Saudi Arabia.

Riyadh and Islamabad have a history of military and defense cooperation, but now Ankara has joined this group as well, and in this way, these partnerships among the region’s countries are expanding.

Citing Saudi military circles, Agence France-Presse reported: “Such an intention has long been discussed and negotiated, but recent developments [in the region] have accelerated taking this step.” As written by this news agency, Saudi state circles have also unofficially confirmed the signing of this defense agreement. It is said that the agreement will be signed in Jeddah by the leaders of the three countries.
