🔶 Bagha’i announced the Iran-Oman agreement over the Strait of Hormuz

Ismail Bagha’i, the spokesperson of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said he has announced an agreement between Iran and Oman regarding the Strait of Hormuz and added that the talks are still ongoing in order to issue a statement.

He told “Defa‘-e Press” on Saturday, 24 Mordad: «There are a number of matters for which the talks are still ongoing... Accordingly, travel and visits between the two countries are still continuing, and whenever it is finalized, we will certainly inform the public about it.»

Bagha’i said: «At present, due to the continuation of maritime sanctions, threats, and U.S. military moves, it is not possible to speak about establishing full security and safety in the Strait of Hormuz. However, Iran and Oman, as two coastal states, about three months ago, simultaneous with the signing of the memorandum of understanding on 28 Khordad, began intensive negotiations in order to determine a safe shipping route.»

He described the process of these talks as «moving forward and positive» and added: «An agreement over the shipping traffic map has been reached.»
