CENTCOM, the United States Central Command, wrote in a post on X that the claim by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps about a supertanker being hit by two sea mines in the Strait of Hormuz and the complete stoppage of this tanker is false.
CENTCOM wrote that the reality is that no vessel in the Strait of Hormuz has struck a mine.
The U.S. Central Command said this is another attempt by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to intimidate commercial shipping in the region by spreading misinformation.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy had announced on Monday morning that a supertanker that intended to transit the “illegal southern route of the Strait of Hormuz” had, hours earlier, suffered severe fire after being hit by two sea mines and had been completely stopped.
