Dmitry Peskov, Kremlin spokesman, said in an interview with the “Vesti” network that talking about mediation in the war in Iran remains difficult.
The Russian news agency TASS noted that this issue is expected to be discussed on Tuesday during a meeting between Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, and Masoud Pezeshkian, the head of the government of the Islamic Republic.
Peskov said: “At the moment, it’s difficult to say what kind of mediation would be feasible. The situation that is taking shape in the Persian Gulf and regarding Iran will be discussed.”
He noted that Pezeshkian will certainly brief Putin on what is happening.
Peskov added that they will also talk about relations between Moscow and Tehran.
He said: “We are committed to the goals and tasks related to developing a broad range of our cooperation with Tehran. For that reason, there will be a comprehensive and very serious dialogue between the two sides.”
