— Ismail Baghaei, the spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, accused the European Union of giving in to U.S. pressure over sanctions and setting aside its sovereignty, laws, and values.

He referred to the European Union Blocking Statute (EU Blocking Statute), a law that limits European companies and economic actors from complying with certain cross-border laws imposed by third countries.

Baghaei, raising this point, asked how the European Union could now support what Tehran calls “coercive unilateral and unlawful actions” against Iran.
