Donald Trump, the U.S. president, in a three-party ceremony along with a drill, Fredericksen, the prime minister of Denmark, and Jens Frederik Nielsen, prime minister of Greenland, on Tuesday, 31 Shahrivar, in New York, signed an agreement for the extensive military presence of the United States in Greenland. The ceremony took place after Donald Trump’s speech at the United Nations General Assembly. The agreement falls short of Trump’s demand to annex the island to the United States.

The Danish prime minister described it as an agreement that “can last forever.” She added that the agreement underscores the importance of the NATO alliance and respects Greenland’s right to self-determination.
