🔻 Generalities of the bill “Strategic Action to Ensure Security of the Strait of Hormuz” approved in the National Security Commission of the Parliament

The spokesperson of Iran’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission says that the generalities of the bill “Strategic Action for Security and Sustainable Progress of the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf” have been approved by this commission.

Hassan Qashqavi said that after reviewing the viewpoints of the relevant agencies and institutions, the generalities of this bill were approved without any opposing vote.

According to members of the parliament, the bill has been drafted in response to “the incursions of foreigners” so that management of this strategic passage will be fully in Iran’s control.

Alireza Solaymi, a member of the parliament, had previously said that this bill is set out in 11 articles.

According to this member of parliament, among the issues mentioned in the bill is “the prohibition on the entry and exit of vessels belonging to the United States, Israel and other hostile or related countries. Also, the entry and exit of military vessels or vessels that operate in the Persian Gulf with the aim of spying, intelligence activity, or actions that are contrary to the security of the Islamic Republic of Iran will be prohibited, and the determination of instances is left to the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

Based on the bill, vessels or cargos that have played a role in “hostile actions against the Axis of Resistance, including Hezbollah, Ansarallah and the Popular Mobilization Forces” will also fall under the prohibition.

The bill was registered for consideration in the Islamic Consultative Assembly on 22 Tir 1405.
