🔶 Grossi: The agency has had no information about Iran’s nuclear situation for a year

Rafael Grossi, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, said on Monday, September 7 (16 Shahrivar) to the Board of Governors that the Agency is completely in the dark regarding Iran’s nuclear program, and that this situation has continued at least since June 2025.

Grossi added: “As stated in the report… the Agency has neither received information from Iran regarding the status of declared nuclear materials or facilities, nor had access to any of those facilities to carry out field verification activities. Therefore, the Agency has been unable to carry out its safeguards responsibilities under the NPT safeguards agreement at the declared nuclear facilities in Iran.”

Since the attacks by Israel and the United States on Iran in June 2025, Tehran has refused to grant access to the International Atomic Energy Agency to inspect any of its nuclear facilities, claiming that the Agency would pass on confidential information to the attackers.
