🔻Hemati: Nothing has been released yet from Iran’s blocked assets

Abdolnasser Hemati, the head of the Central Bank of Iran, says that so far nothing has been released from Iran’s money and assets under the Islamabad understanding.

Mr. Hemati, in a televised interview, called news about the return of quantities of gold and money to Iran a rumor and said that, to date, under the Islamabad agreement, no part of Iran’s blocked assets has been released.

Under Article 11 of the Islamabad agreement, the United States had committed to, after implementing this agreement, provide full access for the Islamic Republic of Iran to blocked or restricted assets and financial resources. The United States also committed to issuing all required licenses and approvals for transferring these assets to accounts approved by Iran’s central bank.

Despite the fact that it was announced at the time that the details related to the release of these assets would be determined during negotiations, a U.S. official, in explaining Article 11, said that if Iran fulfills its commitments and, for example, cooperates in the nuclear issue, part of these blocked assets would be released.

Last week, and at the same time as American officials threatened to deliver a “hard blow” to Iran’s economy, Masoud Pezeshkian, the president of Iran, said that the revenues of his government have “decreased” and that Iran’s oil revenues have also been “cut off.”
