🔶 Iran’s Constitutional Party reports an assassination attempt on its secretary-general

Iran’s Constitutional Party, in a statement, announced that Fooad Pashayee, the party’s secretary-general, was targeted in an assassination attempt on Monday evening (26 Mordad) 17 August in Los Angeles, and has been hospitalized in the intensive care unit.

Reports related to the attempt say that the attackers attacked him after cutting the surveillance cameras at Pashayee’s private residence.

According to the party’s statement, the incident occurred at around 7:45 p.m. local time, and Los Angeles police have begun their investigation into it, but no information has yet been released about the perpetrator or perpetrators and the motivation behind the incident.

Iran’s Constitutional Party, while condemning the attack, urged Los Angeles police to conduct immediate, comprehensive, and transparent investigations in order to clarify the various aspects of the incident and identify those responsible.

In a section of its statement, the party emphasized: “Violence and terror cannot replace political dialogue and democratic competition, and an attack on political activists, regardless of their inclinations, is an assault on freedom, security, and democracy.”
