🔶 The Wall Street Journal: Iran is preparing itself for a broader war

While the 60-day deadline set in the “Islamabad understanding” for reaching a comprehensive agreement between Tehran and Washington has ended, the American publication Wall Street Journal has reported that the Islamic Republic has used this opportunity to prepare for a broader war in order to advance diplomatic efforts.

The newspaper, in its report, cited the remarks of Iranian and Arab officials and informed sources, and wrote that, in the view of the Islamic Republic, the United States has taken advantage of this 60-day window to prepare for future attacks. Therefore, rather than pursuing negotiations, Iran has spent the past two months on a broader effort: increasing the production of missiles and drones and handing key posts to hardliners.

As the newspaper wrote, officials from Arab intelligence organizations have pointed to a “strategic turn” in the leadership of the Islamic Republic, the aim of which is to prepare forces for the expansion of the war.

Mohammad Hassan Sangtarash, a defense analyst based in Tehran, told The Wall Street Journal: “There is a broad view in Iran that the main war has not yet begun.”
