🔸IRGC spokesman denied backchannel talks with the United States
Hosein Mahbi, the spokesperson of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, denied Donald Trump’s statements about the existence of backchannel talks between the United States and IRGC officials.
Mahbi, in an interview with Tasnim, a news agency affiliated with the IRGC, emphasized that no talks are taking place between IRGC officials and Americans. He described Trump’s claim that there is a direct channel between the United States and the IRGC as “a lie stemming from delusion, the nightmare of America’s defeat, and its desperation in the war.”
The IRGC spokesman added that the military institution “is the arm and the voice of the power of the Iranian nation and the Islamic Republic, and it states its positions on the battlefield.”
However, he said that “diplomatic matters fall under the responsibility of other parts of the Islamic Republic.”
Mahbi added that, “based on the information of the IRGC and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” due to America’s breaches of promises and the repeated experience of this country violating its commitments, currently there is no dialogue with Americans in the diplomatic sphere as well.
The IRGC spokesman raised this claim while Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its diplomacy have not yet responded to Trump’s allegation.
