In a report on the intensification of Iran’s economic crisis, the Jerusalem Post wrote that the war has eliminated about one million job opportunities and that unemployment and a sharp rise in prices have increased pressure on people’s everyday lives.

The newspaper referred to the suicide of a 35-year-old worker in Mahshahr after losing his job, and wrote that the incident highlights the gap between the economic situation of ordinary people and the military structure of the Islamic Republic.

Meir Litvak, a professor of Middle Eastern history at Tel Aviv University, said that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is, to a large extent, insulated and protected from the economic structure, and that the government continues to give priority to strengthening military capabilities over economic reconstruction.

At the same time, Mohsen Rezaei said that the Islamic Republic, despite sanctions and a naval blockade, still has billions of dollars in revenue and continues to sell oil. According to the figures in this report, inflation of food items reached 128 percent in Tir (July). The prices of red meat and poultry rose by about 149 percent, and dairy products rose by 147 percent compared with the same period of the previous year.
