Less than 24 hours after a 15-year prison sentence was announced for “Yalda Miri,” a news photographer, “Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei,” head of the judiciary of the Islamic Republic, praised journalists as people who are “without fortifications.”

Mohseni Ejei said: “Fighters on the front lines sometimes sit in well-fortified positions, but the journalist, with their head held high and camera in hand, goes into the thick of the battle to prepare their accurate and correct news.”

These remarks were made in less than a day after Yalda Miri said she had been sentenced to 15 years in prison. Read:
