Mohammad Jamalv, head of Iran’s Civil Registration Organization, announced that the smart national ID card for 6 million Iranian citizens has still not been issued and delivered.

He added: “For various reasons, including the inflation of regulations and the multiplicity of the agencies responsible in this field, these things happen; the national ID card is not an ordinary card; the features of this card provide the capability for precise identity verification, and until the end of this autumn we have very high hopes that these debts will be settled.”

Jamalv also addressed the photos of individuals on national ID cards, saying that one of the most important concerns is people’s photos, and said: “In the whole world, the photo on an identification card is different from studio photos. We certainly also have some dissatisfaction again to a certain extent, but we will definitely have a serious improvement.”
