🔶 Order to halt negotiations; Trump’s shift to “waiting until Iran surrenders”

Donald Trump, the U.S. president, has instructed this country’s negotiators to stop negotiations with Iran for an indefinite period and to end “positive” talks with the Islamic Republic. CNN has reported the matter, citing U.S. officials.

On Tuesday, August 18 (27 Mordad), Trump wrote on his social media platform “Truth Social”: «There are no negotiations or talks with the Islamic Republic of Iran going on, and no negotiations are planned either.»

These remarks came a day after Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law and one of the senior members of the U.S. negotiating team, spoke of “wide and serious” discussions between the United States and Iran; although he acknowledged that Tehran still has not shown readiness to reach an agreement that would be satisfactory to Washington.
