🔶Prosecutor’s Office files a criminal complaint against those involved in the women’s marathon in Tehran
Tehran Prosecutor’s Office has said that it has opened a judicial case against the organizers and those involved in the Tehran women’s race.
The judiciary says that “religious and legal standards” were not observed in this competition, and for that reason, the Tehran Prosecutor’s Office has taken up the case and filed a criminal complaint.
The event took place on Friday, 27 Shahrivar, in “Velaayat Park,” located in the southwest of Tehran, and was held at the same time as the ceremony “Ján-feda Exercise.” A notable point was the presence of women without mandatory hijab.
ISNA says that around 500 female athletes and 1,000 male athletes took part in this 10-kilometer track race.
The presence of women who, in their attire, chose choice over compulsion has led to many reactions to this event within the government and among media outlets.
