🔶 US warns its citizens about escalation of fighting between Houthis and Saudi Arabia
The U.S. embassy in Beirut, on Saturday, 29 Shahrivar (September 20), issued a security alert and asked U.S. citizens in the Middle East to exercise caution given the increase in tensions between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia.
The alert said: “Iran-backed Houthi forces have entered into fighting with Saudi Arabia and, among other things, have targeted civilian airports.” The U.S. embassy warned that the military confrontation could escalate quickly.
The embassy also said that U.S. diplomatic facilities, including outside the Middle East, have been targeted, and the Islamic Republic of Iran or groups that support it may target other U.S. interests, locations related to this country, as well as American companies and institutions around the world.
U.S. citizens were asked to follow local media, avoid drawing attention to themselves, and comply with instructions from local authorities.
