Reports of the U.S. attack on IRGC positions on Larak Island

🔸Reports indicate that the United States attacked IRGC positions on Larak Island near the Strait of Hormuz. The IRGC also said, hours later, that the attack caused casualties.

🔸Reuters, Al Jazeera, and Barak Ravid, a journalist at the Axios news website, separately reported, citing U.S. officials, that the U.S. Army targeted two launch platforms belonging to the IRGC on Larak on Sunday evening, 8 Shahrivar.

🔸Barak Ravid, on the X network, wrote, quoting these officials: “Today, U.S. forces targeted two Iranian launch platforms on Larak Island. IRGC Revolutionary Guards personnel were seen preparing to fire rockets carrying sea mines into the Strait of Hormuz.”

🔸Reuters also published a similar statement, citing a U.S. official.

🔸Al Jazeera also, citing a U.S. official who did not want to be named, confirmed the U.S. attack on the IRGC’s launch platforms on this island.

🔸Based on this report, and according to this U.S. official, U.S. forces closely monitor the area and remain prepared to intervene to protect the passage of ships through this waterway.

🔸CENTCOM, the U.S. Central Command headquarters, has not yet commented on these reports.

🔸Hours later, the IRGC said in a statement that the U.S. attack on Larak Island “led to the martyrdom and injury of several of our fighters and fellow countrymen.”

🔸The statement said that the military forces of the Islamic Republic would “respond” to this attack.
