U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn, a Republican member of the Senate, told Newsmax about the “economic expulsion” operation: “Iran is facing unprecedented inflation, and we’re hearing that the army and the police aren’t able to pay their employees’ salaries.”
Regarding Washington’s economic actions against the Islamic Republic, she said: “I think it’s important to note that U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has pointed out that more actions are on the way.”
Blackburn also said the Treasury Department has identified parts of this and has imposed sanctions on different entities and individuals, and emphasized: “As this process continues, to ensure that Iran is financially isolated, it’s important that our allies in the region also join us.”
