Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, proposed that the organization facilitate the passage of children’s aid shipments through the Strait of Hormuz.

He said the aim of the proposal is to reduce immediate risks, help shipments pass in a more regular and predictable manner, and rebuild the trust needed for diplomacy and reduce tensions.

Guterres said this mechanism would be implemented only with the agreement of all countries involved in the dispute.
