Thomas Piegut, the spokesperson of the U.S. State Department, announced that new U.S. sanctions have targeted several entities, individuals, and ships for facilitating “destabilizing activities of the Iranian regime.”

Piegut said these activities include attacks on American forces and Washington’s allies in the region, illegal arms purchases, cyber infiltration into U.S. infrastructure, and moving energy products to provide funding for terrorism.

According to him, military officials responsible for arms procurement and directing attacks against U.S. forces, intelligence-gathering entities about his country’s forces and its allies, and a supply network for equipment for the Islamic Republic’s military and missile programs have been sanctioned.

The U.S. State Department also targeted a cyber group for infiltrating the country’s critical infrastructure.

These sanctions also include a network of shipping companies and intermediaries transferring Iranian oil and oil and petrochemical products through the United Arab Emirates, China, Singapore, and Europe, which, according to Washington, provides financial resources for the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps and other parts of the government.
