🔻Reuters reports that Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the president of the Qatar Football Association, wrote in a letter to Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, the president of the AFC, that before the issuance of the open letter from the three confederations against Gianni Infantino, the president of FIFA, he had not been consulted with him and the Qatar Football Association.

🔹Infantino, who intends to run again for the presidency of FIFA next year, has, after the UEFA opposition and the actions of UEFA and the Asian Football Confederation and CONCACAF regarding his performance, faced a serious crisis.

🔹The three confederations also demanded that he step down due to his unsuccessful efforts to bring private investors into FIFA competitions, including the World Cup.

🔹The head of the Qatar Football Association and a member of the FIFA Council, in protest at the Asian Football Confederation’s alignment with this position, wrote in a letter: «The collective position must first be clarified; it cannot be assumed in advance or simply treated as a collective position merely by issuing a statement.»

🔹He asked the AFC to explain what consultations it had carried out before releasing this statement, and on what basis it had considered itself authorized to speak on behalf of the 47 member federations.
