Shanghai Cooperation Organization; a security backer for Central Asian countries? 🖌Sohrab Zia BBC, Monday

Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, will host, starting today, August 30, and until September 1, for the fourth time, a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Previously as well, in 2007, 2013, and 2019, meetings of the leaders of the member countries of this organization had been held in Kyrgyzstan’s capital.

This year marks 25 years since the founding of the organization, and Kyrgyzstan, within the framework of its rotating chairmanship, is holding the anniversary summit of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

The summit is being held as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization has entered its 25th year of activity. Bishkek will also host the “Shanghai Plus” meeting. At the same time, on Monday, August 31, the sixth edition of the World Nomad Games will be officially inaugurated in Bishkek and will continue until September 6. Thus, Kyrgyzstan will host two major international events concurrently.
