🔶 Tehran denies a missile attack on the UAE; Abu Dhabi halts trade with Iran

Iran has “categorically” rejected accusations of a missile attack on the United Arab Emirates. Ismail Baghaei, a spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said on Tuesday evening, 27 Mordad (18 August), that the allegations were false and harm regional stability.

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran said: “Iran firmly rejects the claim by the United Arab Emirates that a missile was fired toward this country.” Baghaei added that this allegation from Abu Dhabi damages mutual trust and regional security efforts.

Shortly before these remarks, the United Arab Emirates, in response to the missile attack, suspended all commercial and financial transactions with Iran until further notice. Afra Al-Humaili, a spokesperson for the UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated: “All trade, commercial exchanges and financial transactions with Iran” have been suspended due to the recent escalation of tensions in the region.
