🔶 Further decrease in ship traffic through the Strait of Hormuz
Ship traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, which is very important for oil trade, has decreased again. The reason for this is the uncertainty and concern about the security situation after this route was blocked amid clashes related to Iran.
According to data from Kpler, a company that monitors energy, shipping, and global trade markets, on Tuesday, August 18 (27 Mordad) only six vessels carrying raw materials transited through the strait; this figure was nine ships the day before, and the 10-day average was 11 ships.
According to this report, most shipping companies are refraining from using this route due to the lack of clear signs about when the strait will be fully reopened.
Donald Trump, the U.S. president, had said on Tuesday that the Strait of Hormuz is open; a claim that is at odds with statements by Iranian officials.
Before the start of the war, about one-fifth of the global supply of crude oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) was carried through this route.
