The Economist, citing YouGov polls, reported that Donald Trump’s net approval rating has reached -27, the lowest level recorded to date. The outlet suggested that the resumption of U.S. attacks on Iran in mid-March could have been one of the factors behind this drop in popularity.

According to the report, 61% of Americans expressed concern about Trump’s ability to manage international crises. In addition, his net approval rating on inflation and prices fell to -44, the lowest figure during his presidency; a development that The Economist linked to higher fuel prices.

Analyzing YouGov data, The Economist wrote that despite continued widespread support for Trump among Republican voters, dissatisfaction with his performance has also increased even in the states that voted for him in the 2024 election. The report also shows that young people, ethnic minorities, people with university education, and some older voters support Trump less than other groups— a trend that could be challenging for Republicans in this year’s midterm elections.
