Tom Cotton, a Republican senator, said in a radio interview with Hugh Hewitt that despite Donald Trump’s remarks about the likelihood of reaching a deal, he believes that “a deal with these revolutionary zealots” will never be reached.

He added that the United States should “finish the job” and destroy the remaining military capability of Iran, especially military equipment near the Strait of Hormuz that could threaten shipping in these waters.

Cotton said such an action would enable more oil tankers to leave each day and would help control gasoline and diesel prices in the United States. He also called for the continuation of the blockade of Iran and said this blockade causes damage to Iran of hundreds of millions of dollars every day.

The Republican senator also said that the United States has “broken” Iran’s military capability and “destroyed” the country’s nuclear program. He emphasized that it would be better for the United States to “finish the job as soon as possible,” and added that “revolutionary zealots” will never accept a deal that would be acceptable to the United States.
