🔻 Trump signs Russia and Iran sanctions law
Donald Trump, president of the United States, signed a congressional measure to impose sweeping sanctions on Russia and extend sanctions against Iran.
While extending the current U.S. sanctions on Iran, the law expands sanctions, tariffs, and other restrictions on Russia.
The law includes sanctions against Russian officials, financial institutions, and other Russian entities, as well as measures in the areas of energy and Russia’s trade. It also allows the U.S. president to impose tariffs of up to 100 percent on major importers of Russian oil and natural gas.
The U.S. congressional measure also extended the “Iran Sanctions Act of 1996” for five years, maintaining U.S. powers to impose sanctions on Tehran.
