The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) announced that Israeli forces fired 455 projectiles at southern Lebanon from Friday to Sunday and violated the country’s airspace 97 times, which is among the heaviest bombardments of recent months.

Based on a UNIFIL report, only on Saturday 229 of these projectiles were fired, the highest daily figure since June 12.

Farhan Haq, deputy spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, said that most airspace violations were carried out by drones, though helicopters and fighter jets were also involved.

UNIFIL says it has recorded Israel’s almost daily presence in Lebanon’s airspace throughout the summer and the country’s military activities on the ground.
