🔻Uzbekistan and the United States have signed a memorandum of understanding to expand cooperation between the nuclear bodies of the two countries.

As reported by Podrobno, an Uzbek news website, this cooperation will include safety standards, inspections, and preparedness for emergencies.

Based on this report, the two countries have agreed to strengthen cooperation in nuclear safety in the peaceful use of nuclear energy.

The memorandum of understanding was signed during the seventieth session of the General Assembly of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna. Rusatom, Russia’s state-owned company, is building Uzbekistan’s first nuclear power plant in an area near the center of this country.
