Vance: If Trump had been killed in the 2024 assassination attempt, the legitimacy of the U.S. political system would have come into question

🔸JD Vance, vice president of the United States, said that if the 2024 assassination attempt on Donald Trump had led to his death, he would have always asked himself whether the incident was part of a conspiracy and perhaps even whether the presidency of another Republican—would also be considered legitimate.

🔸Vance made these remarks in an interview with Bryce Crawford, a Christian podcaster, which was published on Tuesday, the 10th of Shahrivar.

🔸Referring to the July 2024 assassination attempt (Tir 14, 1403) against Donald Trump during the presidential campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, he said that if the bullet had resulted in Trump’s death, the United States might have faced “serious internal turmoil,” in such a way that, according to him, it was not clear whether the country could escape its consequences.

🔸In that assassination attempt, a bullet injured Trump’s ear and one of the attendees at the election rally was killed.

🔸The U.S. vice president said that many of Trump’s supporters, if he had been killed, would likely have believed that a conspiracy had removed the candidate supported by them from the scene, and he added that he himself had such a possibility “in the back of his mind.”

🔸Vance said: “I assumed that very dark forces had removed Donald Trump from power at just the moment when he was on the verge of returning to the White House. In that case, the entire political system would become illegitimate.”

🔸Crawford also asked Vance about his interest in the “end times,” a subject that the vice president joked was more of an obsessive thought during his youth in the late 1990s; when people were talking about the possibility of a new millennium.

🔸He, who is Catholic, said he tries to do as much as possible what he considers his divine duty, and added that if those actions lead to the end times, “that’s fine,” and if they instead lead to building a better world that remains and flourishes long after his death, “that too is excellent.”
